Designer tuxedos give you that extra edge to look great for all of your formal events. It's an enduring recipe - elegant, black designer tuxedo, formal shirt, bowtie & cummerbund, cufflinks and studs.  What does a designer tuxedo provide? Generally, finer fabrics, better craftsmanship, and a sharper line. Nothing looks as rich or timeless as a classic tuxedo for your dressiest events. These famous designer tuxedos are perfect for weddings, charity events, cruises and proms. [Read More...]

You'll find designer tuxedos from Calvin Klein, Ike Behar, Hugo Boss, Hickey Freeman and others. You'll also notice we offer designer tuxedos from outfits you may not have heard from including Tiglio, Paul Betenly, and Canaletto.  So why carry so many different designers?  Each designer has their own signature look designed for one type of guy.  Calvin Klein designer tuxedos are designed for the younger man.  Fast looks and trim fits that are geared for that guy.  Tiglio designer tuxedos speak to elegant fashion guys.  More room than Calvin Klein for a more comfortable fit and more interesting, richer fabrics.  Tiglio tuxedos are a terrific value.  Paul Betenly designer tuxedos are produced for the prim and proper, a tad more conservative in look yet very fine, rich fabrics.  Ike Behar straddles the line of classic and fashion looks with a fairly easy fitting garment.  Hugo Boss designer tuxedos have a distinctive Boss look - crisp, clean, lightweight.  Hickey Freeman tuxedos are very well made, very classic, traditional styling.

A few notes in evaluating your new designer tuxedo.  There are 3 different lapel options to choose from.  The most classic tuxedo style is a peak lapel.  This was the original tuxedo design when Griswold Lorilland appeared for dinner at his private club in Tuxedo Park, New York.  He had his tailor cut off the tails of his peak lapel tailcoat and voila, the tuxedo was born.  The notch lapel is the most popular style today.  Some say this makes your tuxedo look too much like a business suit.  Others, however, are comfortable with the familiarity of the styling. Last, but not least, is a shawl collar tuxedo.  This long, rounded look is a favorite for James Bond, however, it should be avoided if you have a bit of a belly.  These 3 options shift up and down in popularity, but none are ever truly out of style.

When selecting a designer tuxedo, you need to also consider the vent options.  Again, there are three different options: no vent, side vent, and center vent.  By and large the vent choice for your tuxedo will be driven by suit fashions.  That is, if side vents are most popular in suit styles (as it is today), then the vast majority of tuxedo options will be side vented. There is nothing wrong with a center vent or no vent style, however, it may look dated compared to the majority style of the day.

Designer tuxedos will also mirror suits with regard to the button options.  The most timeless option for a designer tuxedo is a 1-button style.  However, just like suits, the majority rules with 2-button options being far more plentiful.  Likewise, 3-button tuxedos were very popular when 3-button suits were in fashion.  Today, stick with either a one or two button classic tuxedo.

When considering which designer tuxedo to add to your wardrobe, you are asking yourself which style speaks to your heart.  Just because the tuxedo is solid black doesn't mean they're all the same.  Indeed, the shoulder pitch, the cut, the overall look and how it matches your body type is going to be the most import options.  Give a look at the descriptions or give us a call at (888) 879-SUIT (7848) and we'll walk you through the process to find the right classic tuxedo for you!
